JOB DESCRIPTION: Food Sorter/General Laborer

LOCATION: Bea Gaddy Family Centers, Inc. 425 N. Chester Street Baltimore, MD  21231

BACKGROUND: To allow students the opportunity to gain much needed service-learning hours

NATURE OF POSITION: Volunteer positions for high school students only

RELATIONSHIPS: Develops a good working relationship with the staff, clients, and other workers.

NUMBER SLOTS AVAILABLE: 4

QUALIFICATIONS: Responsible for ensuring that food is brought in and sorted on the shelves. Responsible for loading and unloading of delivery trucks. Ensure that bags of groceries are prepared as needed on a daily basis. Ensures shelves are restocked at the end of the day. Ensures the clients sign in on a daily basis. Assists in loading vehicles from the senior buildings. Responsible for participating in the summer lunch program. Responsible for sweeping and trash removal from containers. Ensures all expired foods are removed from the shelves and disposed of properly. Responsible for completing all tasks assigned during the period

HOURS: Monday-Friday 9am- to the maximum of 2pm daily. Each student will receive 2-hours for each hour successfully completed

DRESS CODE: Tee-Shirts and jeans are acceptable, no flip flops, sandals or, shorts. Jeans are okay belts must be worn at all times. No overly exposed skin will be allowed (.i.e. belly buttons, breast etc…) workers will not be allowed to display under clothes at any time.
